Austin Fashion Week

It's almost here. I, however, am too poor to be fashionable but maybe you are not.

Check out the schedule

Lebanese Candy

lovelovelove.

One of my all-time favorite movies that also happens to have a great soundtrack. I've been listening to it a lot lately, (usually right before sleepy times - it's very soothing) as I do with all other music since I tend to fixate on things I like.

Succar ya Banat
Mreyte ya Mreyte

If you haven't seen it already, definitely add Caramel to your Netflix movie queue. You don't need to know what it's about. Just know that it's a good movie. Trust me. However, if you're expecting nudity, violence or harsh language, there isn't any (I know sucks right?) cause the Lebanese are all conservative like that.

Get Low

I half take back what I said in the previous post. There are some (though very few) slowcore/lo-fi bands I do enjoy. Low is opening for Spoon this coming Friday and I've been wanting to see them since I heard Drums and Guns. All their songs are very slow and minimalist but extremely heartfelt. And apparently they put on a good live show so I am tres excited to see them.

Some favs:
Sunflower
Breaker
Violent Past

if i can't dance to it, i don't wanna hear it

It at least has to induce a moderate head bob. That's probably the reason why I can't get into the Dirty Projectors. They're right there with Bat for Lashes for me.

Bored now.

Analogies

Moving to a different city is like dating other people. You may think you've found the perfect place/person, but you can never really know until you live in another city/date other people. Sure, some places/people will suck and you will wish you were back at "home" or back in that comfortable, dependable relationship. But then again, if you take a chance you might find a place/person that's a gazillion billion times better.

Just gotta give it a chance ya know.

why i will never be a hipster

Let me count the ways.

1. I look terrible in jorts. It's quite horrifying actually.
2. I'm too poor to shop at American Apparel/think it is overrated/too expensive for what it is.
3. High waisted jeans/skirts/shorts also do not look good on me.
4. I do not own any headbands or a fedora. Again, I look bad in these.
5. I am not vegetarian/vegan.
6. I can't grow a mustache. Especially not the handlebar variety.
7. I don't drink PBR...I just don't like beer.
8. I do not have blunt fringe bangs that cover my entire face.

I however, do enjoy:
1. Finding out about new bands.
2. Dance parties.
3. Going to shows.
4. Smoking Parliaments.
5. A good pair of skinny jeans.

Right now I'm pretty fond of this jam.

Fourth of Joolai

What are your plans for the fourth? Explosions in the Sky? Fireworks at Zilker? Independence Day Throwdown with Prince Klassen at Beauty Bar? Dirty 6th? BBQ in the backyard?

Need to get crunk and celebrate the birth of America.
