Might Like You Better

Apologies that I'm posting less frequently. We're currently working on the new site (which is taking up lots of time), but we're hoping to launch it within the next few days. HOLLLAAAAAA

IHEARTCOMIX!

IHEARTCOMIX! seems to be a very "electronic" label (with the exception of Matt & Kim). Below are some tracks from three artists: The Toxic Avenger, Designer Drugs, and Acid Girls. Hope you like-y.

The Toxic Avenger

The Toxic Avenger - Bad Girls Need Love Too (Daze of Thunder Remix)
Trash Yourself and The Toxic Avenger - Die

Toxic's new EP is out 09.15.09 and is also the first single off the LP that drops early 2010.

Designer Drugs

Designer Drugs - Back Up In This (Nadastrom Remix)
Heartsrevolution - Switchblade (Designer Drugs Remix)

Acid Girls

Acid Girls - Wake Up (ft. Frankmusik)

Acid Girls has a new album coming out 09.01.09 featuring remixes by Jokers of the Scene, Dave P, and Adam Sparkles. You can pre-order at the IHEARTCOMIX! online store.

Power

This was just posted by Asian Dan that Boys Noize's "Power" is out 09.29.09. I be so excited.

nobody puts baby in the corner.

This baby blog will be moving to a new address and getting a pseudo-makeover in the next few days. It's going to be super fantastic like Dirty Dancing.

Franki Chan and Learning Secrets

I'm kinda slow posting on this but here are some fotos from the Austinist show on 08.07.09 featuring Franki Chan (IHEARTCOMIX!) and Austin's very own Learning Secrets. I danced a lot but what else is new.

Met a fellow blogger, Lee (robotsmademedoit). So weird when the blogosphere and real life collide.

Learning Secretsss

MJ Fashion

Cause MJ's death hasn't already been exploited enough, there is now Michael Jackson-inspired ladies fashion. This be the next big thing...though there are plenty of people who already dress this way.

DatA Peaktures

Peaktures from the DatA show tonight at Beauty Bar. The French just know how to get people a-dancin'. Fotos from the Austinist show featuring Franki Chan to be posted laters.

Truth.

Not music related but necessary. Grow up boys.

De-struc-tion

Not that I'm already obsessed with HeartsRevolution or anything, but I was just listening to the "Kitsune Pioneer" LP that I got at the Scion/AV Tour party back in June and rediscovered this. You really can never stop remixing a song like Ultraviolence.

HeartsRevolution - Ultraviolence (Dubka Remix)
HeartsRevolution - Ultraviolence (ft. Spank Rock)
HeartsRevolution - Ultraviolence (Vitalic Remix)

DatA

Yes I am missing Lollapalooza but condolences are not necessary because instead I'm seeing DatA TONIGHT at Beauty Bar. $8 yall.

DatA - One in a Million
DatA - Rapture (Edwin van Cleef Remix)

Things to Remember

I just liked this.

Excess.

Seeing Franki Chan and Learning Secrets tonight. Go big or go home?

Wet Look Leggings

If you are not anorexically thin or a celebrity, please don't ever wear these. There are some fashion trends that shouldn't be followed.

"Pretty 80s"

Brazilian duo The Twelves has admitted that they're "pretty 80s" and there is nothing wrong with that at all. In fact, I kinda lurve it. If you too (1) love remixes, (2) love the 80s, (3) love Brazilian djs, and (4) love dance-y tunes, then you must check out the two tracks below.

A-Ha - Take On Me (The Twelves Remix)
Database vs. French Horn Rebellion - Beaches and Friends (The Twelves Remix)

Weather Report

I'm gonna try something new and start including a post here and there from various contributors. The following is the weather report in Austin for today, 08..07.09, from someone who has chosen to remain anonymous. If these posts become "popular," maybe I'll get a little column going.

Weather for Owstin, Tejas:
Highs of 105 will continue to casually bitchslap Austin all afternoon, but look for a chance of showers in 7-10 weeks.

Today's Recommended Attire: (Handmade) Jorts, Low-Low V-Necks (for those of us who prepped our neckline tans, or even pales, ahead of time) or Wolf Tees, Armbands (for wiping the sweat, not fashion).

Traffic:
A reminder that, as of today, August 7th, road bikes are out, BMX is in. Peugeot's still got you covered.

(this guy is ready and so is his t-shirt)

Marina & the Diamonds

My Cardboard Life

Yet another gimmick on card board. This time, instead of little love notes, it's comic strips. Still very cute (you're gonna have to click on the pic to be able to actually read the text).

weekend dance party

I've been under voluntary house arrest for a while but this weekend, I'm going out.

Friday: Austinist Presents: Franki Chan with Learning Secrets and DJ Markus at Emo's ($5)
Saturday: DatA at Beauty Bar ($8)

SEE YOU THERE (maybe). And happy 100th post (whooo...)

Oh yeah, follow me on Twitter if you want.
T-minus 9 days til the big move.
T-minus 25 days til I start my big girl job.
Nervous.

DISCLAIMER. READ ME.

I just wanted to reiterate that if you would like anything removed or credited on this blog, please email me at azendevotchka@gmail.com. I'm still a baby when it comes to this whole blog business.

Many fanks.

No Age

Sub Pop is currently offering a full stream of No Age's EP, Losing Feeling HERE (you have to log onto the website with your name and email address. shouldn't take more than 20 seconds). The EP is four songs and will be officially released on 10.06.09. If you like it/love it, you can pre-order the 12" for $8 (as compared to $10 later. A real savings.)

JEFFER

I mentioned being pseudo-obsessed with/listening to this song on repeat a while back buuut now you can watch the vid too. Enjoy :)

Miami Horror and Bag Raiders

Interesting music vids. Songs are pretty grood too.

Miami Horror - Don't Be On With Her (Directed by Warran & Rhett) from Moop Jaw on Vimeo.

Bag Raiders - Shooting Stars from Modular People on Vimeo.

Yo La Tengo

If you like fruit and watching people eat fruit (it also helps if you like YLT), here's the vid for Yo La Tengo's, "Periodically Double or Triple"

Box Man: The Saga

You need to lower the cone a little more, sir.

Hanging out alone at the park. Not a big deal.

Can't sleep. Problems with the gf. Anxious.

AMANDA FUCKING BLANK

Her debut album, I Love You, is out TOMORROW (after much delay) on Downtown and is also available as a Vinyl LP. Fucking loved this bitch ever since I heard "Bump" by Spank Rock off YoYoYoYoYo (off my top 15 albums list). Silky smooth voice + nasty rap lyrics. Just want to be her.

Spank Rock - Bump (feat. Amanda Blank)
Spank Rock - Loose (feat. Amanda Blank)
Amanda Blank & Vega - No Reasons to Like You Better

i got that grape kool-aid (filled swimming pool)

This week marks the release of lots of grood things that have already been floating around the blogosphere for some time.

My Picks
Singles:
Simian Mobile Disco - Audacity of Huge (Dekker & Johan Remix)
Metric - Gimme Sympathy

Albums:
Frankmusik - 'Complete Me'
MSTRKRFT – 'Fist Of God'

Audacity of Huge (original mix)
you have to appreciate the creativity of SMD music vids

Buffetlibre

I wanna be as happy as this song makes me feel. Reminds me of the music from Koopa Troopa Beach in MarioKart.

Cartridge - The Woods (Buffetlibre Remix)

last.fm recommendations=99% inaccurate

Most of last.fm's "we think you might also like these artists" recommendations are complete misses. Even though I know this, my curiosity still pushes me to check out their suggestions. And every time (except the one time I was directed towards School of Seven Bells) I'm always like, "what. no." The end.

For instance, based on Heads We Dance, last.fm thought I should check out Purple Crush. Major disappointment. I did find this fabulous picture of the duo though. So sexual rawr.
