Tummy Toast

Local and amazing. First heard about Tummy Toast around SXSW times and I've been listening to her myspace nonstop ever since. Her sound and voice are very Uffie-esque. I've been looking EVERYWHERE for her songs to download so if anyone knows where I can get some Tummy Toast it would be greatly appreciated.

Seeing Wild Moccasins and {{{Sunset}}} at Emo's tomorrow night! Excitement. Listening to both reminds me of childhood and makes my heart feel light and happy.

Dear 90s, I miss you. I have fond memories of watching Beverly Hills 90210 (and being in love with Luke Perry), listening to N*SYNC, wearing slap bracelets, and playing with my Tamagotchi.

I just get nostalgic whenever I hear this track. Always a dance party when it comes on.

Slacker

It's like Pandora but better.

I've been using Pandora since 2K6 and Hype Machine since 2K7, but I just discovered Slacker yesterday (I know it's been out since 2K7 but whatevs). It's essentially Pandora and Sirius/XM radio combined. Like Pandora, it puts together playlists based on individual musical taste. However, Slacker also generates a list of similar artists that you can listen to on demand instead of waiting to be surprised by the next artist/song (which more often than not, sucks). For instance, I could be listening to the Cut Copy station and with a click, be listening to MSTRKRFT, Ladytron or the Chromatics. It also has a leg up on Pandora in that you can fine tune pre-existing stations.

Like satellite radio, it also has pre-created stations such as "Hip Hop/R&B Hits" and "Indie Electronic" (which is by far my fav station). What's really nice about Slacker is that you can customize stations - basically mash all your faves and mix different artists and genres into one. Essentially, it's free satellite radio.

new love.

Can't Get Enough

The Hood Internet recently posted a mash up featuring two of my favs - Amanda Blank and Vega. "No Reasons to Like You Better" in my opinion is better than the two individual songs, "No Reasons" by Vega and "Might Like You Better" by Amanda Blank.

Enjoy.

DC Metro Collision

I left early for Austin this morning only to hear about this after getting back.

In other news, Heather and I were able to narrow down areas where we want to live in DC - either Adams Morgan or Chinatown. Both not sketch in the night times or the day times...unlike a lot of other areas of DC. Living in the city is so ridiculously expensive so instead of a 2/2 or 2/1, we're just going to split a 1/1. Flashback to freshman year in the dorms freal.

DC Chinatown at night...it's ironic because there are no Chinese restaurants/businesses in Chinatown. In fact, there are really no Asian people in DC at all.

Walk It Off

Currently on repeat.
Is this considered "techno?"

Right now I'm in DC looking for a place to live for when I make the transition into the "real world." I don't know what the music scene is like here yet...but the people in DC look/dress like they're fans of Jack Johnson/John Mayer/The Fray. However, I do have some hope. Metric played at the 9:30 club (apparently a really "hip" venue) on Thursday night. It's times like these that I wish every city had a website like Showlist Austin.

P.S. - I officially hate public transportation and walking.

La Roux Announces NA Tour

The baddest bitch in electro-pop is now performing at Lollapalooza and unfortunately, I just don't have the funds to go. Pretty upset right now.

A side project of Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij and Ra Ra Riot singer Wes Miles, Discovery is set to launch their debut album, LP on July 7th. LP features 10 dreamy electro-pop tracks:

1. Orange Shirt

5. So Insane
6. Swing Tree

I would upload the rest of album but am currently unable to find an adequate file hosting and hotlinking website…soooo if anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Hear Orange Shirt and Osaka Loop Line on their myspace.
